Happy birthday DebTalksTV! I can’t believe that it’s been 2-years since I birthed the idea of DebTalksTV.

On May 24th, 2014, I sat among a powerful group of women and listened to stories of success, failure, love, fear and determination. We shared our stories, our advice, defined our values and opened our hearts.

Then a light bulb went off.

I wanted to capture these stories and make them accessible to other women (and men). I wanted others to listen to real truthful accounts of success and failure and feel inspired to keep pursuing their dreams. I wanted to have honest conversations with other women. Nothing glam, nothing over the top. Just real chat. Real shit. Real life.

That weekend the seed was planted. I reached out to all participants from that leadership weekend and put my idea out there. “Would anyone be interested in being interviewed for my v-log that doesn’t yet exist?”

The response was overwhelming. In no time, I had a list of women to interview but no camera, no mic, no lighting, no video editing skills and no clue what the fuck I was doing. But it felt right.

In late June 2014 I started conducting interviews in my apartment. 28 couch conversations later and I’m still going (and they are still in my apartment!). It’s not easy as I’m pretty much a one woman show (but I do have a huge support network, for which I’m grateful!) but every time I watch a final interview my heart fills with love and I know why I keep keepin’ on. There is so much to learn, so much to talk about, and so much to share.

Honest conversation helps open our minds and hearts, helps dissolve judgement and fear, and helps us let go of our so called “mistakes” and move forward. Hearing how one woman achieved her version of success can inspire others to move towards theirs. Hearing how one person is still figuring life out can make another realize that they are not the only one still trying to figure shit out.

A huge thanks to all DebTalksTV guests so far and to everyone who has supported this passion project. Each and every story has touched my heart and hopefully yours too. There is so much more to come so stay tuned and sign up for our newsletter to keep up to date on the latest couch sessions!

Now let’s go eat cake!!
